Heavy Duty Structural Steel Platforms
Custom sizes and configurations are readily available. We provide same day price quotes if you require a special landing size, stair angle, specific tread rise/run, or a maximum horizontal stair run to satisfy available floor space constraints.
Coating Systems
Our standard finish is a quick dry polyester powder coat Gray (RAL 7005) with black bar grating deck. Also available in Black (RAL 9005), Blue (RAL 5015), White (RAL 9016) and Safety Yellow. In addition we are pleased to offer our products with a hot-dipped galvanized finish or in a Two Part System which is our powder coat over a hot-dipped galvanized undercoat.
Stair Tread Note: If your stairs are powder coated but have galvanized treads, we will supply a galvanized deck surface on the landing to match.
OSHA Requirements for Stair Landings
- 1910.25(b)(4): Stairway landings and platforms are at least the width of the stair and at least 30 inches (76 cm) in depth, as measured in the direction of travel;
- 1910.25(b)(5): When a door or a gate opens directly on a stairway, a platform is provided, and the swing of the door or gate does not reduce the platform's effective usuable depth to:
- 1910.25(b)(5)(i): Less than 20 inches (51 cm) for platforms installed before January 17, 2017; and
- 1910.25(b)(5)(ii): Less than 22 inches (56 cm) for platforms installed on or after January 17, 2017;
IBC Code Requirements for Stair Landings
1011.6: There shall be a floor or landing at the top and bottom of each stairway. The width of landings shall be not less than the width of stairways served. Every landing shall have a minimum width measured perpendicular to the direction of travel equal to the width of the stairway. Where the stairway has a straight run the depth need not exceed 48". Doors opening onto a landing shall not reduce the landing to less than one-half the required width. When fully open, the door shall not project more than 7" into a landing. Where wheelchair spaces are required on the stairway landing in accordance with Section 1009.6.3, the wheelchair space shall not be located in the required width of the landing and doors shall not swing over the wheelchair spaces.
